When we started YHprints, we didn’t have a grand business plan. We didn’t have investors or a marketing team. What we had was a 3D printer in a spare bedroom, a lot of ideas, and the stubborn belief that the things people put in their homes should mean something to them.
That was over a year ago. Since then, we’ve made mistakes, learned more than we ever expected, and shipped products to people across the country. And along the way, we’ve become even more convinced that small, independent businesses aren’t just a nice alternative to big brands — they’re essential.
The Personal Touch That Can’t Be Scaled
>
When you buy something from a small business, you’re not just getting a product. You’re getting someone’s actual attention, care, and expertise. Every item we make goes through our hands, gets checked for quality, and gets packaged with the same care we’d give if we were sending a gift to a friend. Because in a way, we are.
Can Amazon do that? Not really. Not at scale. The economics of mass production simply don’t allow for the kind of personal investment that small businesses make naturally. When you order from us, you can message us directly and get a real response from someone who actually made or designed your item.
The Environmental Angle
>
3D printing is inherently more sustainable than traditional manufacturing for small-batch products. There’s no warehouse full of unsold inventory, no massive shipping containers crossing oceans, no excess packaging designed for retail shelf appeal. We make what we need, when we need it, and ship it directly to you in minimal, recyclable packaging.
It’s not perfect — we’re always looking for ways to improve our sustainability — but it’s a fundamentally different model than the one driving most consumer goods today.
The Real Reason We Do This
>
Honestly? Because it’s fun. There’s something genuinely magical about watching an idea go from a sketch on paper to a digital model to a physical object you can hold. And there’s something even more magical about sending that object to someone and having them love it enough to leave a kind review or send us a photo of it in their home.
That never gets old. Every single time.
So thank you — seriously — for supporting us, for believing in what we’re building, and for being part of this journey. Small businesses only exist because people like you choose to shop with them. And that choice matters more than you know.
